This is a free event to test out orienteering at Westfield Chatswood.
Participation is restricted to a maximum of 30 people only.
Participants will be chosen based on a first-come, first-served basis however we will also be ensuring that a wide cross-section of people participate (including diverse ages and experience levels). This event will be suitable for beginners that have never orienteered as well as for regular orienteers.
Register your interest in participation by clicking on the link below and following the prompts. Expressions of interest close at midnight on Sunday 16 October.
Registration does not guarantee you a start in this event. We will send further event details to people that have secured a place in the event on Monday 17 October.
Start Window: 4pm to 5:15pm (you can start any time within this time window) on Wednesday 19 October, 2022.
Course Closure: 6pm (you must report back into the finish by this time).
Courses: There will be one course which will be a “score” format ie plan your own route to visit as many checkpoints marked on the map as possible within the time limit. A printed map will be provided to participants at the start. Kindly note that this test event will be a walking-only event and non-competitive. Feedback from participants will be appreciated.
Children: All “minors” should be supervised by a parent or guardian during participation. Shadowing by a parent or responsible guardian (ie active supervision throughout the entire course) of children will be allowed and will be required for under 12’s whilst participating in this event.
Event area: The event will be set entirely within public areas of Westfield Chatswood. We have prepared a special map of the centre and it covers multiple levels of the two buildings. For this test event, all shops, level 1 (Target and the escalators to Target), level 6 (Hoyts cinema level), lifts, fire stairs, car parks and external areas are out of bounds.
Event essentials: To participate in the event, you will need a fully charged mobile phone with the free MapRun6 app installed. Note that the watch-based MapRunG platform will not work for this event. Further information will be emailed to participants on Monday 17 October, 2022.
